The Southern Burgundy Greenway — by bike or on foot

Just a few minutes from La Maison Rosie, the Southern Burgundy Voie Verte is one of the finest routes in the region: a converted railway line, entirely car-free, with a smooth, comfortable surface. Perfect for families, pushchairs, and e-bikes alike.
Getting there from Étrigny
- •Cormatin / Buxy: 10 to 15 minutes by car
- •Cluny: 20 to 25 minutes
- •Easy parking near the trail
- •Bike hire available in Saint-Gengoux-le-National, with direct access to the greenway
Not to be missed: the Bois Clair tunnel
Located beyond Cluny, this 1.6 km tunnel offers a naturally cool respite — blissful in summer heat. (Closed in winter, from October to March.)
Our favourite rides
- •Family ride: Cormatin → Buxy → back, 15 to 20 km, virtually flat
- •Our favourite: Cluny → Bois Clair tunnel → back, 20 to 30 km
- •Full-day ride: Cluny → Mâcon, around 30 km, with the option to return by train
Mâconnais vineyards, picture-postcard villages, peaceful countryside, and plenty of picnic spots — everything for a perfect day out.
