Taizé, the community 20 minutes from the house
On its hilltop between Cormatin and Cluny, the Taizé community welcomes tens of thousands of visitors every year from all over Europe, and from Germany in particular. La Maison Rosie is about twenty minutes away by car: the perfect base for joining life on the hill by day and coming home to real comfort in the evening.
A community unlike any other in Europe
Founded in 1940 by Brother Roger, the community brings together brothers from different Christian traditions around a life of prayer and simplicity. Its meditative chants, sung in every language, are known throughout the world. The Church of Reconciliation, the international meetings and the atmosphere of the hill make it a place that leaves a lasting impression, believer or not.
Come for a prayer, a day or a week
Common prayer takes place three times a day (morning, midday and evening) and is open to everyone: passing visitors are welcome, even for just a few hours. Those who want the full experience join the week-long meetings, with dedicated programmes for young people, adults and families, and even a week in silence. In the evening, sleep in peaceful Étrigny
Accommodation on the hill is deliberately simple (dormitories and tents), designed first and foremost for young people. Many adults, families and group leaders prefer to stay nearby: that is exactly what La Maison Rosie offers, a whole house with two bedrooms, a proper bathroom and a fully equipped kitchen, in a peaceful village at the foot of a château, some twenty minutes' drive away. Come home after the evening prayer and set off rested the next morning.
