Our favourite cycle route: Cormatin – Buxy
Setting off from La Maison Rosie, this is our all-time favourite cycling outing: an easy loop along the Voie Verte between Cormatin and Buxy, rolling through the Côte Chalonnaise vineyards. Almost perfectly flat and completely car-free, it suits all ages and abilities.
The route
- •Start: Cormatin (10–15 min from the house), with easy parking near the trail
- •Cormatin → Buxy along the Voie Verte, then back: 15 to 20 km in total
- •Almost entirely flat, smooth surface, completely car-free
Along the way
You ride through charming villages and alongside the vines of the Mâconnais and Côte Chalonnaise. In Buxy, the small Thursday morning wine market is well worth a stop, as is a tasting at the Vignerons de Buxy cooperative cellar.
Bike hire is available in Saint-Gengoux-le-National, with direct access to the greenway. Plenty of picnic spots along the way.
